Chilwell School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and proactive Learning Mentor to join our Learning Support team.
Working under the direction of the Learning Support Manager, the successful candidate will support pupils to engage fully in school life and become more confident and independent learners. The role will involve working with individual pupils and groups, providing a combination of in-class support, targeted interventions and keyworker sessions to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and make progress.
You will work closely with pupils, families and colleagues to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development. This will include providing literacy and numeracy support, helping pupils with behaviour and wellbeing needs, supporting transitions and contributing to the delivery and monitoring of interventions through the plan, do, review framework.
We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children and young people, ideally within an educational setting, including experience of supporting children with SEND. You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and families, and a good understanding of the different needs and barriers that can affect a young person’s access to education.
Applicants should have a good standard of education, including GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), and be confident using ICT, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Google Workspace.
