Chilwell School has a clear uniform policy, all pupils are expected to follow it and take pride in their appearance.

We are pleased to be introducing an updated school uniform from September 2026. Our new style uniform has been designed to give a smarter, more modern look while continuing to reflect the pride and high standards of our school community.

We recognise the importance of making this change as practical and affordable as possible for families, so the new style uniform will be introduced gradually over the next few years.

We have worked hard to ensure that compulsory branded items are kept to a minimum so that our uniform continues to represent good value for money for families. The majority of uniform items can be purchased from a wide range of high street and online retailers, giving parents and carers plenty of choice and flexibility when buying school uniform.

New Year 7

Students joining the school in September 2026 are strongly encouraged to wear the new-style uniform. However, we appreciate that some children will already have siblings in school and families may be planning to hand down some items, in this instance students will be able to wear the old style uniform for one year before transitioning into the new style uniform.

Students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 (in September 2026)

Students in these year groups can choose to wear the new style uniform but can also continue to wear the old style uniform.

Following student feedback, we have made some slight alterations to the existing uniform which will give students greater flexibility and choice. This reflects our commitment to listening to our students and making sure our uniform is both practical and fit for modern school life.

Whilst we are happy for students to choose which version of the uniform they wear, students must wear either the complete old style uniform or the complete new style uniform (not a mix of both).

Below are details of our Uniform Expectations, including items which are not acceptable.

Please note that some items sold in high street shops (and online) that are advertised as ‘school wear’ may not comply with our uniform expectations. If you would like clarification before purchasing any item, please contact the school.
