Line Manager: Learning Support Manager
Chilwell School is seeking to appoint two committed and enthusiastic Learning Mentors to join our Learning Support Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with students across the school, including within our Learning Support Department, Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) provision and Alternative Provision Unit (APU). The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, develop resilience and achieve their full potential.
Working under the direction of the Learning Support Manager, you will provide tailored support to individual students and small groups, helping them to access learning, develop positive relationships and successfully engage with school life. The role includes delivering interventions, providing in-class support, undertaking keyworker responsibilities and working closely with families and external agencies where appropriate.
We are looking for people who:
- Have experience of working with children or young people in an educational, mentoring or support capacity.
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Have an understanding of the challenges faced by young people with SEND, social, emotional and mental health needs, and attendance barriers including EBSA.
- Are able to motivate, encourage and inspire young people to succeed.
- Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Are flexible, proactive and committed to inclusive education.
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
