Our Sixth Form

Welcome from Our Head Teacher

At Lakeview Sixth Form, we are committed to providing you with a nurturing and challenging environment where you can thrive academically and personally. My team and I understand that the transition to sixth form can be both exciting and daunting, which is why we ensure that every student is supported through every step of their journey. From the moment you join us, you will benefit from a tailored approach that focuses on your unique strengths and aspirations.

Our academic programme is rigorous and designed to help you develop the skills necessary for success at the highest levels, whether you are heading to university or pursuing a career. But we believe that learning goes beyond just the classroom. Our pastoral care team will work closely with you to ensure that your experience is holistic, offering you support, guidance, and opportunities for personal growth that will serve you both now and in the future.

At Lakeview, you will also have access to a broad range of enrichment activities that allow you to grow as an individual, contribute to the community, and build a set of experiences that will make you stand out in the world beyond sixth form.

Ultimately, we want you to leave us not only with excellent exam results but with a sense of personal achievement, ready to take on the next stage of your journey, whether that’s higher education or an exciting career path. We’re here to excite minds for successful futures, and we look forward to being a part of your journey.

Yours sincerely,
Sarah York

🎓 As part of our Oxbridge support programme, we were delighted to welcome back Abbie Robinson — a former Chilwell Sixth Form student — to speak with our aspiring Oxbridge applicants.

Abbie shared her invaluable insights into the application process and gave an honest, inspiring account of her time studying at Oxford. It was fantastic to see how she’s grown both academically and personally — a real testament to where dedication and ambition can lead!

Welcome from Our Head of Sixth Form

Your Post-16 journey is a really exciting time in your life; one where you narrow your focus to fewer subjects, develop more independence and explore the vast opportunities in the real world.

As head of sixth form I want to create an environment where students can thrive, grow and become the best version of themselves. We want you to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way and for you to leave us at the end of your studies with not just your subject qualifications, but with a well rounded personal profile that future employers will be drawn to when recruiting their workforce.

We are fortunate at Chilwell to have a dedicated sixth form building known as Lakeview. It is a dynamic and vibrant learning environment which offers both academic and well being spaces to support your learning journey with us. Students are also issued with Chromebooks to use in lessons and at home. These provide a valuable resource to support teaching and learning, independent study and research.

One of the elements that sets Chilwell sixth form apart is the focus on the individual. We work closely with all of our students to ensure they are supported throughout their journey. This includes tutor mentoring/coaching and career guidance, as well as subject teachers who really understand the strengths and areas for improvement of their students.

I strongly believe that if you choose Chilwell sixth form then you will be making the right choice. Together we can help you succeed in taking the  next big step in your life journey.

Yours sincerely,
Jason Nichols
Head of Sixth Form
