What’s happening at Chilwell School Sixth Form
Summer 2025 exam certificates for GCSEs & A-levels
Certificates are now ready for collection from our main reception during school opening hours. All certificates must be collected by the Easter holidays.
To be able to collect your certificates you must provide a form of identification, such as a passport or birth certificate. If you are asking someone to collect them on your behalf, they must have a signed letter of authorisation from you, plus a form of identification.
Year 12 have been diving into our Resilience Workshops—exploring practical ways to stay strong when challenges arise. Through hands-on activities, they’ve discovered strategies to build coping skills, manage stress and bounce back when the going gets tough.
🔬 Spectrometry Workshop at the School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham
Our Year 13 students had an incredible day exploring NMR, IR, and Mass Spectrometry! After an insightful lecture on NMR delivered by Professor Woodward, they toured the university’s state-of-the-art facilities.
Students then put their own work to the test — using IR spectroscopy to check the purity of the aspirin they synthesized in class. We also handed over two aspirin samples for NMR analysis, and we’re excitedly awaiting the results!
A brilliant day of hands-on science and real-world chemistry experience. 🧪✨

Year 11 students took part in a fun and engaging transition day, filled with teamwork and icebreaker activities designed to help them bond and build confidence as they prepare for the year ahead. The day featured a variety of challenges, including Taskmaster-style games, lively word association rounds, and team quizzes that brought out plenty of laughs and creative thinking. It was fantastic to see students supporting one another, stepping out of their comfort zones, and embracing the sense of community. A brilliant day full of energy, connection, and lots of fun!
🎓 As part of our Oxbridge support programme, we were delighted to welcome back Abbie Robinson — a former Chilwell Sixth Form student — to speak with our aspiring Oxbridge applicants.

Your Post-16 journey is a really exciting time in your life; one where you narrow your focus to fewer subjects, develop more independence and explore the vast opportunities in the real world.
As head of sixth form I want to create an environment where students can thrive, grow and become the best version of themselves. We want you to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way and for you to leave us at the end of your studies with not just your subject qualifications, but with a well rounded personal profile that future employers will be drawn to when recruiting their workforce.
We are fortunate at Chilwell to have a dedicated sixth form building known as Lakeview. It is a dynamic and vibrant learning environment which offers both academic and well being spaces to support your learning journey with us. Students are also issued with Chromebooks to use in lessons and at home. These provide a valuable resource to support teaching and learning, independent study and research.
One of the elements that sets Chilwell sixth form apart is the focus on the individual. We work closely with all of our students to ensure they are supported throughout their journey. This includes tutor mentoring/coaching and career guidance, as well as subject teachers who really understand the strengths and areas for improvement of their students.
