Tutor time

In addition, each day will have a specific activity or focus designed to set out expectations for the day ahead.

News quiz

Each tutor group visits the school library once a fortnight to encourage them to update their reading books. Numeracy and literacy activities will be included in the second half of the autumn term.

Once each week, students line up for assembly in the main school quad where they are registered by their form tutor. Assembly is led by the year leader, with presentations from the senior leadership team, faculty leaders and outside visitors.

Personal, social, health and citizenship education (PSHCE) is delivered through a timetabled lesson. The programme of study is carefully designed to support pupils developmental needs and the issues they will face.

The PSHCE Programme for year seven includes:

  • Friendship
  • Personal safety and social networking
  • Road safety
  • Global issues
  • Refugees

This programme is also supported through three discovery days.

Student voice

Student voice is very important at Chilwell School. It is an opportunity for pupils to give their views and opinions regarding school life. In recent years feedback from student voice has helped design our school uniform, change the menu in the canteen and expand the offer in activities week.

Each tutor group in year seven elects two representatives who attend year council meetings with the year leader. These students are responsible for expressing the views of their tutor group and giving feedback following the meeting.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
