Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

10th May 2024

Last week we held our consultation evening for year twelve and next Thursday 16th May will be an opportunity for parents and carers of students in year seven to get an update from teachers on progress and achievements this year. Please make sure you have signed up for appointments from the link sent via class charts.

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Immunisations - Next Friday 17th May, we will hosting the school vaccination service for HPV vaccinations for students in year eight. With large numbers of students to be seen, we would like students in year eight to come to school in PE kit as it means there is not the added complication of having to remove jackets and shirtsleeves and it means that less lesson time will be disrupted. Please remember to send in year eight students in their PE kit next Friday, even if they do not normally have PE on that day.

If you haven't done so already please complete the consent linkThe link will close at the end of today on 10th May 2024.

Information regarding these vaccines is available on this website.

Book FairTuesday to Thursday and then again on Monday.

In the Library next week...

SHINY NEW BOOKS to buy plus lots of cheap posh pens, rubbers, pencil cases and more. Cash only accepted.

Rowing

We are really excited that next week will also see our rowers take to the water! We have established a partnership with British Rowing and our students have been trained over the last few weeks by their national coaches. On Wednesday we hit the water at Holme Pierrepoint and will then look forward to the next stage of development.

Examinations

Well done to our year eleven students who have now embarked on the first set of written examinations. With GCSE RE yesterday and biology today, exams are upon us. Year thirteen will start their exams from next week. Our students have worked hard and deserve to do well.

Rail Safety

We shared a video on rail safety with our students this week. With several main lines running through our local area, it is unfortunate that we have been given further reports of people going into restricted areas and this is extremely dangerous. Please can parents reinforce the importance of care regarding railway lines.

Ms Baxter-Williams marathon success!

We were so pleased to hear that Ms Baxter-Williams had completed the London Marathon in 4 hours and 23 minutes. The total she has raised so far for Cancer Research is £5027.54 (including Gift Aid). A special thank you to our parents who followed the link and donated. We really appreciate it.

School uniform and warm weather

Just a reminder that the weather is now starting to turn warmer and our message regarding uniform from last week. Also a reminder that students should ensure they have a water bottle with them and that the only jewellery that is included in our uniform policy is a watch, one small stud earring in each ear and one small plain ring on each hand. Please continue to leave any other jewellery at home.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
