15th March 2024

We end this week with Red Nose day and the opportunity for the school to raise funds for charity. It has been a week full of activity, from fund-raising to performing and curriculum option choices to busy enhancement and after school clubs. It is always good to end the week with a smile.

SEND survey

The Nottinghamshire SEND Local Area Partnership would welcome the views of parents and carers who access Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services for their children and young people aged 0-25. The survey is focussed upon Nottinghamshire provision rather than specifically about our school.

The feedback is essential to enable the partnership to develop services and provision for children and young people with SEND.  The survey has been developed with the Nottinghamshire Parent Carer Forum (NPCF).

The views collected from this survey will be shared with the Nottinghamshire SEND Partnership Assurance and Improvement Group (PAIG) and will be used to shape future services and provision in the areas of education, health and care. The PAIG leads on the co-ordination of services for children and young people with SEND in Nottinghamshire and includes representatives of parents and carers.

Year nine curriculum choices evening

Thursday evening saw Lakeview full of year nine students and parents considering curriculum choices for study in years ten and eleven. The options process will continue next week with the opportunity for students to ask further questions before the deadline of 22nd March.

School funding appeal

Earlier this week I shared our version of the letter from Leicestershire Secondary Heads regarding school funding and the need to ensure that education is given a high priority in any forthcoming election. Both existing MPs and anyone canvassing should be asked about investment in education. Students only get one chance at education, we owe it to them to make sure that their chance is top of everyone's agenda. Please see here for the letter.

Music event

On Wednesday we held our CCities music workshop It was a great day for our musicians! In addition, we are looking forward to the Grand Central Chorus performance on 27th April, including a number of our own students as well as a range of talent from across the area.
