Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

7th June 2024

In this final half-term we are starting to set our sights on the future and the next academic year. We have the second of our welcome events on 20th June for parents of students joining us next year in year seven and transition meetings are taking place in primary schools to ensure that the transfer to secondary is as smooth as possible.

Examinations continued all week and students have been exemplary in their commitment and attitude. There has been excellent attendance at revision sessions and students have been very mindful of the importance of this time for our year elevens and thirteens.

Reminders
Please can parents leave disabled parking spaces for those that have a disabled badge. We have had a number of parents sitting in cars in these spots waiting for children at the end of the day whilst parents collecting children in wheelchairs have had to stop some distance away. Please be considerate to the needs of all.

Further to this, we are aware that some children have been riding scooters on roads around the Beeston area and in one recent incident, have had a crash causing damage. It is against the law to ride a privately owned escooter on public land. Please can parents ensure that these are not available for children for everyone's safety and well-being.

Hustings
Tickets have been made available to students of voting age at Chilwell SchoolBramcote CollegeBilborough College and George Spencer earlier this week. We are now making tickets for general release from this morning via Eventbrite. Please follow this link to book a ticket for the hustings. The evening will be an opportunity for the general public to hear the candidates for the Broxtowe constituency and to listen to their proposals for the area and the country.

CCities project
Please see the news item on the school contribution to the CCities project with Broxtowe Borough Council and MishMash productions. A lovely combination of pieces from across the area, with Chilwell's devised piece at the heart.
