Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

26th April 2024

On Thursday we met families of September new starters at the first of our welcome evenings with information on the support available over the next few months. We shared the exciting developments at the school and what will be in place for our cohort of 2024.

Treetops Show

We are looking forward to the Treetops show tomorrow. Please see below for further details and ways to get tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the door but we also have them available through TicketSource. This can be through the Grand Central Chorus website or via the QR code below.

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition

This weekend sees our Bronze DofE students out on an expedition on the east side of Nottingham. We continue to have many students going through the Bronze / Silver / Gold challenge and we are grateful to all the staff who put in so much time to support our students. With the recent silver expedition and further challenges this term, there is a lot available for our students to challenge themselves.

You can find more information in our Duke of Edinburgh section.

Rugby

We took a number of boys and girls teams to the Broxtowe rugby tournament this week. We are really pleased with the developments in this area and the opportunities we have promoted over the last few weeks.

Sixth form interviews

We have undertaken another round of supportive interviews with students who are planning to start their A level studies with us in September. Again, the uptake has been strong but we also have places available for external applicants. Please see the sixth form application page for further information.

Rowing

On Wednesday we ran the first of a number of rowing sessions with students as a new initiative in partnership with British Rowing. We are excited about the potential of this project as it will allow our students access to elite training and experience on the water in state of the art equipment. There was a fantastic response to our after school session and we look forward to the next few weeks in preparation for our visit to the National Water Sports Centre.

Broxtowe network

On Thursday, headteachers from across Broxtowe met at Chilwell School to plan a range of activities for students across the area. With heads from a range of schools from Eastwood to Beeston, we look forward to increased opportunities for our students and networking between schools.

Y12 parents evening

Next week we have our year twelve parents evening. Parents have already received a link to make appointments to meet with subject teachers.

Live music for our students

Students in years seven to ten had a musical treat on Thursday with a visit from San Quentin. Many of our students have now had the experience of live performance and it was a really positive experience.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
