Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

8th March 2024

Today has been discovery day with a wide range of activities taking place. Our year seven students have been at Beaumanor hall with a range of team building activities. Year eight students have been developing a range of "hidden talents." Our year nine students have been focusing on options and choices for the next two years whilst year ten students have had the opportunity to develop a range of life skills and stress management strategies.

Year eleven and year thirteen students have been concentrating on revision for their forthcoming examinations and year twelve students have had a day focussed on careers and interview strategies.

OFSTED report
We shared our OFSTED report with parents this week. It will be published on the OFSTED website from 12th March but can already be found on our website. We are pleased that it recognises the work of the school and that we are a "happy community school" with "high expectations." We will continue to do our best to improve further so that our community has the best possible education for our children. At the same time, it has been useful to have the opportunity at the national school leaders' conference to speak this week with both the Secretary of State for Education and the Chief Inspector for OFSTED to press for further improvements in national support.

Hong Kong March exhibition
We are delighted to host this exhibition this weekend - please come along and experience the art, culture and history of Hong Kong with the range of events available - Saturday 12.00 to 17.00 and Sunday 11.00 to 15.00.

Year seven starters - September 2024
We have continued the support programme for transition this week with a visit to John Clifford School by Mr Hobbs and myself to talk through the process and answer questions. We will be writing to all of our new starters within the next couple of weeks with further information and details of how we will be supporting students and their parents as we move towards September and the new academic year. There will also be a range of opportunities to keep parents informed and for visits to all of our partner primary schools.

Breakfast club

A reminder that our new breakfast club has now started in the small canteen. Running from 8:00am to 8:30am, our breakfast club is here to ensure that every student starts their day off right! Access via the main reception. Free breakfast (toast) for our pupil premium pupils.
