Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

10th February 2023

Congratulations to our KS3 girls' rugby team who played against Alderman White School this week. We continue to develop and extend our sporting opportunities and we are thrilled with the uptake.

Upcoming events

We hope you have a restful break over the half term and we look forward to seeing students on our return on Monday 20th February.

We have a number of events next half term, so please check the website and WeDuc as we approach these dates.

On Thursday 9th March we have the KS4 curriculum evening for our year nine students and their parents. This will be an opportunity to meet with specialist subject staff to consider GCSE courses and seek further information about the choices that are right for students as they move in to examination courses.

On Thursday 23rd March we have the specialisms evening for parents of year eight students. Our specialisms options offer students moving in to year nine the opportunity to explore art, performance and design courses in more depth through selecting a combination of options. Further detail on the process and the options on offer will be sent home next half term.

The following week on Thursday 30th March will be a further opportunity for parents of year eight students to meet with teachers through our on line parents evening.

The website is up to date with these dates. In addition, I have referred in previous posts to the planned industrial action on 1st March, 15th March and 16th March by the NEU. I would like to thank our colleagues in the NEU who have agreed with the school to move some of the events above to these new dates so that they can take place without disruption.

New build for Chilwell School

We were pleased to meet with members of the Nottinghamshire County Council at the start of the week for further discussions regarding the future building for Chilwell School. We are a school that is now at capacity in all years and the current building needs constant care to ensure that it remains an effective place to learn. We will be continuing dialogue with the local authority as well as planning with the Department of Education and other partners to ensure that the new build is not only an excellent facility for learning, but one that continues to provide facilities for all the community.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
