Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

30th September 2022

We were really pleased to welcome so many families to our open evening on Thursday.

There were over five hundred people who came to see what we have to offer and it was a pleasure to see new families as well as parents with older siblings. Our volunteer students were wonderful and a credit to the school and their parents.

We have uploaded the presentation slides and you can find these in parents / transition from year six.

We are pleased to be able to offer school tours during the school day from Monday 3rd October 2022 until half-term. If you are interested in booking a tour because you were unable to join us on open evening or because you want a further opportunity to see the school, please book a place via Eventbrite.

Football success

We have already returned to our winning ways with our football teams. Both year eight and year ten won their matches against Outwood Academy in Worksop, the year eight team winning 7-1 and the year ten team winning by 6-4. Both teams played really positively and in good spirit and we are very proud of them.

Travel to and from school

On a separate note, can I please reinforce the importance of safety on the way to and from school. There continue to be some incidents when students on cycles are not taking due care and so please can parents reinforce expectations of travelling safely on cycle paths and the road. In addition, I would repeat my request that where possible students travel on foot or cycle into school. I regret to say that we have unfortunately had a number of incidents of car drivers becoming impatient with each other and I want to avoid any sense that our drive way is anything but safe.

Year seven tutor evening

Next week is an opportunity for parents to meet with year seven tutors on line for an update on how they have settled in. Invitations for these meetings have been sent out via WeDuc.

Sixth form open evening

We are excited about our next open event which will offer an opportunity to students in our year eleven and in our nearby schools the chance to visit Lakeview sixth form centre and to hear about the opportunities available in what has become an even more vibrant and welcoming place to study. We welcome students and their families from across the area to hear presentations and speak to our experienced subject teachers about A level courses starting in 2023. Further details can be found here.
