Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

26th July 2022

This will be the last blog of this academic year, with information about our start in September and other information which I hope will be useful.

Our activities week last week was a wonderful experience, with staff and students involved in a wide range of activities on site, locally and across the country.

Whether it was surfing in the south west of England, exploring the cultural delights of London, meeting birds of prey in the north west, climbing walls in Shropshire, skiing in snowdomes, baking cakes, canoeing or developing a range of skills on the school site, there was certainly something for everyone!

We had such a lovely range of comments sent in from parents and thank you for these. It is lovely to know that activities week is valued by so many people and is a unique part of the Chilwell school experience.

The activities week is a fantastic end to the year and we really appreciate all that you do...

..we really appreciate you giving up your time to provide the kids with such an amazing experience.

Please pass on thanks to all other teachers involved.  Brilliant team effort.  Have a lovely relaxing summer.

Cygnus

Our Cygnus offer is now on timetables for next year so students will have confirmation of their extra-curricular choices on their first day back in school. We plan that the sessions will start in the first full week back (w/c 5th September)

Summer activities for students and families

One does not need to go far for a wide range of experiences that are on our own doorstep. There are many free and low cost activities on offer around Nottingham over the summer and I would encourage families to take advantage of them where possible. Visit Nottinghamshire has a useful list of activities for under a tenner.

September start

A reminder that we start the new term on Thursday 1st September 2022 (Y7 and Y12) and Friday 2nd September 2022 (Y8, Y9, Y10, Y11 and Y13) Full details of term dates and day times can be found here. Students joining year twelve should look out for WeDuc messages over the summer so that they can complete the necessary registration for their chromebooks.

Thank you

As we start the summer break, I wanted to thank our families for their continued support. It has been a year where we have been rebuilding our face to face community and this has been helped so much by the knowledge that we have a strong partnership with homes and parents as well as our wonderful students.

Have a lovely summer.
