Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

6th November 2020

I am grateful for another week where we have been able to continue with our provision with little disruption. We are still very aware of the impact on students who are self-isolating, and whilst that remains a small number, we want to ensure that all students stay up to speed with the curriculum. Google classroom continues to serve our needs well so please encourage your children to log in regularly at home.

Increased provision at Chilwell

I am also really pleased to say that in this period of opportunities being limited across the country, we find ourselves able to increase the provision for our students. We have developed the efficiency of our cleaning regimes to allow more access to the specialist teaching areas and so this means that our year nine students will shortly be able to access the food and product design rooms for practical cooking and construction activities. I am really pleased that we are able to do this as we want to ensure that as many students as possible have the opportunity to develop practical and creative skills.

Chilwell school - for the heart of the community

We have been so grateful for the support given to us by the community and I wanted to raise a number of events we have planned to show the school's commitment to the local and wider community.

First, we plan to undertake our own Remembrance day activity next Wednesday at 11am. Every year, the country stops for a moment of reflection and whilst at school we can not all be in the same place, our community will also pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by others so that we can enjoy our present and future.

Next Friday, we plan to raise funds for Children in Need through a non-uniform day with students bringing in a donation to support this national charity. We suggest that students bring a donation of a £1.00 which will be collected in year group areas.

Finally, I am really pleased that the planning undertaken by our sixth form students has led to the launch of the Chilwell food bank. You will have received a WeDuc message this morning regarding this and there will be further information coming home within year groups. We have been very aware of the numbers of families who have found the impact of Covid-19 to be having a significant financial effect on them and we want to do all we can to support our community.

Chilwell school is proud to be part of our community and we will do everything we can to ensure we play our role.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
