Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

12th June 2020

On Wednesday of this week, the governing body approved the wider re-opening of the school from Tuesday 16th June for year ten and twelve students.

Whilst this marks a significant milestone in the journey towards face to face teaching for all, we are fully aware that families and students are continuing with distance learning and we are still some way from clarity as to what may happen over the summer months and the new academic year.

However, we are carrying on with developing our on line provision, with the facility to hold live and recorded video learning being explored across different subjects and tutor groups. We have continually reviewed the online provision and continue to do so as we move forward.

We have already started the induction process for year eleven students moving into the sixth form as well as supporting other year eleven students who are planning on continuing in alternative training programmes.

Our current year six students, who will be joining us in September, will have a range of activities over the next couple of moths, including video assemblies, virtual tours of the school, telephone calls home and on line meetings for their parents to ask questions and find out more about the new academic year. More information on this will be available next week.

We have some distance learning food to present this week - again it is good to see learning and creativity thriving in the home environment. Well done to alll our chefs!

I would like to remind you that form tutors will be contacting home next week and will have updated information on how successfully students have been following the tasks in google classroom. Thank you again for the support that you are giving your children.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
