2022 success

At At A Level, our students have produced strong academic outcomes in the examinations this summer with all of our university applicants going to the university of their choice.

In addition, we have been delighted with the number of A* grades. The quality of care and support for our post sixteen students has resulted in another strong year.

Hard work and commitment at Chilwell school have led to a strong set of results in 2022. With just under half of grades at 9, 8 or 7, the school is delighted that students are well placed for the next stage of their education.

Headteacher David Phillips said, “We are very proud of our students and I am delighted that so many of them have done well. As a school we provide small class sizes, strong support and a wealth of opportunities and these results show what can be achieved. We have top grades across the curriculum and this is a testament to the hard work of the students, the commitment of our staff and the environment in which our students flourish.”

A number of students achieved a string of 8s and 9s across the board.  Charlie Carder was one of these, achieving A grades in English literature, history and sociology. Charlie is now ready to start a history degree at Nottingham University. Charlie said “I am really surprised!” although his teachers pointed to his sustained hard work and commitment over the last two years.

Stuart Richards-Weir studied mathematics, further mathematics and physics and is looking forward to studying after achieving As and an A*. Stuart will be studying computing at Warwick University.
Sam Cunnington was another delighted student, ready to start an apprenticeship with the civil service.

Emily Jackson and Nefeli Pouliasi collected their results together and are both looking forward to starting their history degrees. Emily will be studying at UEA and Nefeli at Manchester Metropolitan University.

“Students are under a lot of pressure these days,” said Mr Phillips, “It is important to keep a calm head and be able to manage the level of challenge in the examination system. Well done to all of our students.”
