OFSTED reports

The OFSTED reports for Chilwell School are available on the OFSTED website.

Below is the OFSTED report from our inspection on 30th and 31st January 2024. This is also available on the main OFSTED website.

Our report is very positive and recognises the work we undertake in setting high expectations and supporting students in developing their reading, interests and talents. It also confirms the pride that students and staff have in their school. We are especially pleased in the recognition that our students "are challenged to think about the world they live in and debate moral questions."

Our current work has been focussing on the consistent impact of learning and this is also reflected in the content of the report.

We have sustained our focus on good behaviour and this is reflected in the comment that "students agree that the behaviour system is clear and fair. The school challenges and supports pupils who disrupt learning."

We are proud to serve our neighbourhood and love that the report starts with identifying us as "a happy community school where pupils feel safe." The report means that we can continue with confidence in providing a supportive and unique approach to education in Nottinghamshire. At the same time, we know we can develop further and will continue to find ways to improve so that students can experience the best possible support.

In terms of refinement of the OFSTED framework of inspection, I have also been pleased to have had conversations with the new head of OFSTED, Sir Martyn Oliver. We look forward to changes in the OFSTED regime that will be for the long term good of all schools in the country.
