Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

1st April 2022

We wish all our families a safe and restful time over the Easter break.

Easter break
FSM vouchers have been issued to eligible families for a value of £30 for the next two weeks. We will also be returning for the new term on Tuesday 19th April.

Catering and social areas

As the school numbers have increased, it has made clear the need for additional facilities for providing food. We are already planning a number of exciting developments which will mean a substantial increase in provision and also social areas for the next academic year. However, at present, we have also been informed that there will be a small increase in the cost of school lunches. From Monday 4th April 2022 there will be a 5p price increase in the cost of the school meal from £2.35 to £2.40 for paid meals. The last few years have seen significant increases in both meal ingredients and labour costs due to the rise in the living wage. The catering team focus on fresh and locally produced food to achieve the school food standards. The meal still represents excellent value for money for a nutritionally balanced two-course hot meal.

We will have new seating and tables in school in social areas for the summer term which will allow students more space to be able to socialise at both break and lunch time.

Music success

Further to last week's announcement, Romy now has her tracks being played on BBC Music Introducing in the East Midlands on Saturday. It is great to have students creating success for themselves.

Changes to COVID guidance

Please see the news item here regarding changes to COVID guidance from 1st April 2022.

Summer term

The summer term will soon be here and whilst it is clearly the time of external assessments and examinations for years eleven and thirteen, there will be a lot of other activities, including sports day, activities week, music concerts, cup final games and transition activities for the students who will be joining us in September. The range of activities in the summer term is also a taste of what we hope to offer from September onwards, with a further range of enhancement activities, clubs and opportunities for further learning.

Enjoy the next two weeks together.
