Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

26th November 2021

This week we have a number of important announcements in the lead up to the Christmas break.

End of term

We plan to finish at 12.00pm on Tuesday 21st December for the end of term. We still have lots to achieve over the next few weeks and we hope that this Christmas will offer a lot more opportunities to celebrate than last year.

Examinations 2022

We are holding an information evening for students (in years eleven and thirteen) and their parents on the arrangements for next year's examinations and our plans through the spring and summer terms. This will take place on Tuesday 30th November at 6.30pm. We will send out the zoom link for this on Tuesday.

Pantomime!

We have had the tradition of taking our year seven students to the pantomime every year. Last year we still kept up that tradition but in a different format, with students watching the Playhouse pantomime in school and online. This year we are pleased to have a live performance for our year sevens which will take place on Wednesday 15th December. Further details of this will be given to our year sevens shortly.

Christmas dinner

This will take place on Thursday 16th December, with Christmas dinner available with all the trimmings. On this day we are asking students to wear something "Christmassy" and to bring a donation of £1.00 to raise money to install a defibrillator in school. These are vital resources and it would be a further addition to our provision for the community at school.

Food bank

Our collection last year for food banks in Beeston was a phenomenal success and we were able to provide a substantial amount of food and provisions for those who need it at Christmas. This year we are pleased to link up with the Mayor of Broxtowe's appeal.

We are collecting items every Wednesday for the next three weeks. If you are able to send in any of the items below, we will collect them on the Mayor's behalf and ensure they get to where they are needed.

Food bank vouchers

We are also aware that we have our own families who make use of foodbanks. We have been identified as a food bank referral centre, which means that families who wish to use a food bank can obtain a voucher from school. Our business manager. Kirsty Lowde is the contact for these and will manage this confidentially if you wish to email her for further information.

**PLEASE NOTE** Calls may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
