Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

26th March 2021

Last night was finally an opportunity to have detailed discussions with parents of year eleven students about the work that students are undertaking in the months leading up to grade submissions.

Next week we have a similar evening for sixth form students. I have been really pleased to hear that these have been very productive and strong discussions, so that we can together build the support needed for our students over the next few months.

Schools across the country are finishing term today, but we are still expecting four busy days up until next Thursday, when we start our Easter break. We will return to school on Monday 19th April.

The school was represented this week at the ASCL conference where we presented the work of the school on remote learning to school leaders across the country. In addition, as part of the conference, I was one of a small number who met with the secretary of state for education on Wednesday for a discussion on the significant matters that are currently facing schools.

It was during this week that we recognised a year since the first lockdown. The school, along with many others across the country, held a minute's silence. It was a moment for us to reflect upon everything that we as a community have faced and responded to over the last twelve months.

We have also totted up our fund-raising for Comic Relief last week and have raised a contribution of £600.00. We are also continuing our emergency relief support for households in the community and parents will have had a message via WeDuc.

We look forward to next week and the final few days of what has been an extraordinary term.
