Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

27th November 2020

We were greeted with a beautiful morning and view across the lake today, even though the news of our area entering tier three next week is very much on our minds.

Learning and self-isolation

We continue to plan for a full curriculum both within the live classroom and with resources available in Google classroom. We appreciate the difficulty of maintaining regular patterns of study at home and so if students want any further advice or guidance they should use the messaging facilities in Google classroom to get this advice from teachers. We hope that the time passes quickly before we get students who are self-isolating back in school.

Last night was the year nine parents evening and thank you again for your positive feedback and comments. It has been good to hear that our provision is supporting students to get back into the rhythm of study.

Sanitary products available for free

The news in Scotland of sanitary products being made free coincided with our own provision of ensuring that free products are available in toilets as well as in year bases. We want to ensure that all girls are confident that these products are easily available.

Zoe - Covid study app

We contacted parents via WeDuc earlier in the week to ask all parents to join the COVID Symptom Study by downloading the free app and taking less than 1min a day to report how your child/children are feeling each day. With all parents reporting daily via the app, the app will provide a powerful tool for helping the school and parents understand COVID in the community and help keep our students safe. Importantly, the information parents report will be invaluable to critical scientific research into COVID in children and for public health purposes. If you have not yet done so, please consider downloading the app - details are in the WeDuc message.

Consideration for our neighbours

We are aware that there are a number of parents picking up and dropping off from school. Please ensure that if you pick your child up in one of the surrounding streets, that you do not block entrances to drives.

Finally, as we move out of lockdown next week into a restricted tier three, I appeal again to ensure that you keep our whole community safe and ensure that families and children stick to the rules so that we can continue our schooling with as little disruption as possible.

Keep safe.
