Welcome to Chilwell School

Share, Care, Believe, Achieve

10th January 2020

It has been just under a month since the last update, but there seems to have been significant changes in the world for our young people.

With an election, fires in Australia and uncertainty in the world of international relations, it has been a turbulent few weeks and this was highlighted this morning in the Mr Bradbury's assembly with year ten.

It is our role to ensure that students continue to have stability in their world at school and are able to be protected so that they continue on their studies whilst at the same time becoming more aware of the impact of our decisions on the world.

The week has been a very positive start to the term and students will have some big decisions ahead of them, with year nine facing options choices, year ten having the opportunity to explore a range of careers and students in year eleven and sixth form starting the final preparations for public examinations.

Our INSET day at the start of the work was based upon a curriculum focus. All of our faculty teams spent the day reviewing and developing areas of the curriculum to ensure that there continues to be high challenge and aspiration in everything the students do.

We will be holding the second of our discovery days next week and for year elevens this will give them the opportunity to reflect and build on their mock examination results. We have a thorough support programme for all students but this starts with students achieving in every lesson. After visiting all of the year eleven lessons at the start of this term, it was good to see such a positive attitude.
